EuroDISH

Research activities

The work of the project broken down into different areas (work packages):

1 - Methodological support
Objective: To support work packages 2 to 9 by facilitating the work across EuroDISH so that the results could be integrated, thus ensuring greater usability of results.

2 - Mapping, gaps and needs regarding "Determinants of dietary behaviour"
Objective: To feed the conceptual design and roadmap of Research Infrastructures (RIs) which are essential to research and innovations relevant to the assessment of determinants of dietary behaviour of individuals and populations.

3 - Mapping, gaps and needs regarding "Intake of foods & nutrients"
Objective: To feed the conceptual design and roadmap of RIs which are essential to research and innovations relevant to the assessment of intake of foods and nutrients of individuals and populations.

4 - Mapping, gaps and needs regarding "Status and functional markers of nutritional health"
Objective: To feed the conceptual design and roadmap of RIs with cutting-edge investigations of nutritional and metabolic status using mechanistic, clinical and knowledge based approaches.

5 - Mapping, gaps and needs regarding "Health and disease risk of food and nutrients"
Objective: To feed the conceptual design and roadmap of RIs which are essential to research and innovations relevant to the assessment of relationships between nutritional factors and health (diseases, quality of life, ageing, fertility, physiological functions).

6 - Synthesis and Governance
Objective: To synthesize needs and gaps, and connect RIs identified within the previous work packages (2-5) and to design of governance structures to feed the conceptual design and implementation roadmap of key food and health RIs (work package 9).

7 - Research Infrastructure for pan-EU nutritional surveillance
Objective: To feed work package 6 (Synthesis & Governance) with real life building of RIs and to feed the overall conceptual design and roadmap of work package 9.

8 - Research Infrastructure for innovative mechanistic studies
Objective: To feed work package 6 (Synthesis & Governance) with real life building of RIs (relevant for the "S(tatus)" pillar of the DISH) and to feed the overall conceptual design and roadmap of work package 9.

9 - Conceptual design and Roadmap
Objective: To provide advanced and feasible recommendations to ESFRI and other stakeholders (e.g. JPI-HDHL) on the integration of existing and the development of new food and health RIs that are most relevant for innovations in mechanistic and clinical research on food and health and public health nutrition strategies across Europe based on the needs of different stakeholders (policy makers at the EU and national level and researchers from the public and private sector) that are aligned with on-going activities.

10 - Dissemination & community building
Objective: To engage and encourage stakeholders to contribute to the project and to promote the use of EuroDISH results to key target audiences (e.g. policy makers, researchers, industry research funding organisations, public health organisations, consumer organisations, as well as other information multipliers) and to create long term sustainable impact of the project results.

11 - Management
Objective: To develop and sustain technical coordination and project management to successfully complete all aspects of the proposal, in accordance with the EC grant agreement.
